Portfolio Areas: Child Welfare, Education

Avery Sandy is the Deputy Youth Chief of the Beausoleil First Nation Youth Council. She is passionate about education and improving educational outcomes for Beausoleil First Nation’s youth. As such, Youth Councillor Sandy is the portfolio holder on Child Welfare and Education.

As long as she has been involved in youth leadership, Deputy Youth Chief Sandy has dedicated her career to serving youth. She was selected as Christian Island’s Island Princess in recognition of her public speaking skills, worked as a Junior Youth Support Worker for Beausoleil First Nation Child and Family Services, and has been involved with the Right to Play program and its implementation.

In June 2018, she graduated from St. Theresa’s Catholic High School in Midland, Ontario. She hopes to attain her Bachelor of Education and enter the teaching field on Christian Island as a classroom teacher or Principal.
