Youth Councillor Sasha Sylvester
Sasha Sylvester has served as a Youth Councillor for the Beausoleil First Nation Youth Council since March 2017. In addition, she is the portfolio holder on Environment and Climate Change and Health.
Youth Councillor Sylvester has placed great emphasis on the issue of environment and climate change since she first entered into youth leadership. As Beausoleil First Nation is an Island community, she recognizes the need to address climate change and negate its impacts.
Likewise, the issue of health is equally important to her. As the portfolio holder on Health, she will work with health partners to address diabetes, obesity, and the high rates of substance issue in her community.
Youth Councillor Robin Louttit
Robin Louttit has served as Youth Councillor for the Beausoleil First Nation Youth Council since November 2016. She is the portfolio holder on Culture and Language, Economic Development, and the Status of Women.
Youth Councillor Louttit is passionate about building resiliency among Beausoleil First Nation’s youth, seeing the education system reflect the cultural needs of the community, and raising Beausoleil First Nation’s language retention rate. A hallmark of her time in leadership has been advocating for youth job creation and opportunities. She has also been involved in women’s issues, such as raising awareness on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls.
She is currently a student at St. Theresa’s Catholic High School in Midland, Ontario.
